As human beings, we know that we have this good side within us, and one way to take in effect or show this good side is to extend our help to those in need or to just be a part of something that is out of our comfort zone, and that will benefit people other than ourselves.

It is very rewarding when you experience being part of something that you know you were able to extend your hand to someone in need. Just being able to know that you’ve shown kindness and compassion to others is already a reward, and you will not expect anything more than that.

Is your Thai wife a philanthropist or a humanitarian at heart? There are a number of organizations in the UK that promote the well-being of people and nature.

Here Is The List of The Organizations That Your Thai Wife Can Join

1. Save The Children Organization

This is an organization which aims to save children’s lives and prevent human trafficking. One of their tasks is to run world-class programs that agitate world leaders to be committed to their promises of giving children around the world a brighter future.

The organization works with dedicated partners, not just in the UK but also in 120 other countries. This only means that they have gone through great extent in providing business needs to their members, of course with the help their partners.

The organization works hard to maintain their aim and purpose, and the areas in which they specialize are the following: Children’s rights, Protection, Child Poverty, Hunger, Health and HIV, Education, and Climate Change.

2. VSO Organization

The VSO is a charity organization that aims to provide opportunities to people becoming a long-term solution to global poverty. The organization’s work circles around four developmental areas and these are health, participation and governance, secure livelihoods and education.

Gender equality is also one of the organization’s most important aspects since they are committed to give equal rights and opportunities to men and women for them to realize their full potential as human beings.

One of the beliefs of this organization is that the only way to make a real difference in this world is through the works and efforts of the people. They believe as well that sharing the stories of disadvantaged communities will positively bring inspiration to so many people and that this will lead them to become a volunteer and join in the activities that the organization has to offer.

The VSO also gives the opportunity to their members to visit another country to share their knowledge through study tours, themed workshops, and especially to extend their help as well.

3. The ATS or the Anglo-Thai Society

This organization has the aim to promote good relations between Thailand and the UK. They offer various events and activities that interest their members. They currently have 300 members in the group and are still continuing to organize events to benefit not just their members, but also to so many British and Thai individuals as well.

One important aspect of this organization is maintaining an Educational Fund to honor Thai students for exemplary efforts in the UK. They also have a “hardship” fund to administer emergency and financial aid to Thai students.

This organization also raises occasional charity funds such as for post-tsunami restoration and for orphanages in Thailand. Not only that the members get to help those in need, they also get the opportunity to meet new people and friends who are also interested in the people of Thailand, their culture and business relations.

Each year the Anglo-Thai Society holds two principal events, on June, they have the Summer Reception at the House of Lords, and on November, the Presentation of Educational Awards at the Oriental Club.

Even if we Thais are highly adaptable people, it’s only normal for anyone to experience some culture shock when one relocates to another country and intends to stay there for a long period of time. So it shouldn’t be surprising if your Thai wife, as resilient as she is, would experience the same. After all, there would likely be certain Thai social customs, values, and behaviors that would no longer serve her once she steps foot in the United Kingdom.

Fortunately, the various support groups and communities in Britain can help her adjust to living in her new environment. Some of these groups can have a mix of different nationalities while others have mostly Thai members – either way, they are there to help her deal with the changes. Of course, you would be her main support, but sometimes you will need a helping hand, right?

Of course, she will probably be very apprehensive with the idea at first. She’s a newcomer, after all. Your role, therefore, is to help ease her in. Be the one who helps her become part of support groups and communities who can be there for her in case you’re not.

Here are more benefits your fiancée or spouse can derive from having a support group who can empathize with her.

1. These groups provide a connection to their native land

Your Thai spouse would definitely miss being in Thailand. When you are in a different country, you cannot help feeling like an outcast and different from the people in your new community. Being with their own people can help cure their homesickness. It can bring back some good memories of their land and can instantly make them feel at home.

Aside from the love and care you provide her, you should have her join a community whose members are fellow Thais so that she’d feel instantly at home. For one, being around others who have the same roots as hers can give her some great memories of her homeland. For another, she gets to talk to others in her native language, and trust me, this can really make her happy. It’s akin to drinking a glass of hot coffee on a very cold morning.

2. Members of these groups have common interests

Migrating to another country can cause a lot of anxiety and fear of the unknown. Empathy can cause a lot of wonders to one’s well-being. Knowing that you are not alone can definitely ease your worries and fears. They get to relate and interact with these people who are similarly situated.

Being a member of these organizations and groups can give a sense of belongingness and community. Now having peers who not only understand her situation, but also share similar interests as hers, would go a long way in helping her adjust in a foreign country (at least it’s foreign to her now, but someday she’ll learn to love it as a home).

3. Groups help your Thai fiancée or spouse adapt to your new home

The best thing about these groups and organizations is their objective of helping Thais with whatever problems they may be having. Their members have gone through the same situation and they can exchange ideas and give advice as to the best recourse for your fiancée or spouse.

These groups apart from acting as a support group can give you effective tips and guidance for their new life. This way your fiancée or spouse would have an easier time adjusting to their new environment. The meetings they hold can give her the opportunities to express concerns or frustrations your spouse might have, and the more senior members can give her advice on how to go about such dilemmas.

Moreover, since she is with people who have already gone through what she is still going through, she may be able to get guidance and tips on her situation. Besides, even if she didn’t have any problems at all, the simple fact that she gets to talk and listen to other people can help make her feel more at home.
