The Following Qualifications and Requirements for Residential Permit in Thailand

One of the main services offered by the agency is helping foreigners get a Residential Permit. If you are certain that Thailand will be your new home, it is recommended that you apply for this permit at once. You can easily get this once you meet the following qualifications for eligibility:

1. You are a holder of a passport bearing Non-Immigrant Visa and have been  granted a one-year extension to stay in the country.

2. You have been staying in the Kingdom for at least three years up until the  submission of the application.

3. You have a good criminal record

4. You must meet the final requirements set by the law; at least TBH 10,000 for  investors, TNH 50,000 monthly income for those seeking employment, and at  least a TBH 80,000 worth of savings for those who are not here for other personal reasons.

Usual Documents Needed for Residence Permit Application

• TM.9 – the official application form

• Personal information sheet

• Health certificate secured from a government hospital

• Map of residence or place of work in Thailand

Visa Application

The Immigration Bureau also issues visas under the following categories:

• Tourist – Initially valid for 60 days and renewable at the agency’s discretion.

• Visitor Transit – This grants a 30-day stay for transit visitors and holders of tourist visa not permitted to work in the country

• Non-Quota Immigrant – Applicable to former residents who lost their “resident status” and wanted to resume their residency in Thailand

• Non-Immigrant – This is granted to aliens seeking extended stay in the country either for work, business, or other personal reasons. This can be classified into different categories: business visa (B), dependent visa (O), diplomatic and consular visa (D), mass media visa (M), expert work visa (EX), study or observation visa (ED), investment visa with the legal provision on investment promotion (BOI B), and capital investment visa (IM).

You may get in touch with the bureau for more information.

The 90-Day Reporting Policy The Immigration Bureau is in charge in knowing and overseeing the whereabouts of aliens holding a non-immigrant visa. It requires foreigners to report their current address every 90 days.

Notification procedure:

a. Personally make the notification to the Immigration office; you can do this within seven days before or after your 90-day stay expires.

b. If personal notification is not possible, you may authorize somebody to report for you or you can send a registered mail.

Where to submit the notification?

You can update the bureau through any immigration offices across the country. If you are residing in Bangkok, you can get in touch with the Immigration Division 1 Office located at the Chalermprakiat Government Complex.

When sending the notification by mail

When personal reporting is not possible or simply inconvenient for you, you may choose to send a registered mail. Here are what should be included in this:

• Photocopy of each passport page

• Photocopy of TM.6, or departure card

• Completely filled in and signed form TM.47—the official notification form

• An envelope with affixed 10-baht stamp and your return address

• Previous notification of staying for over 90 days if any

When all of these are ready, mail then the documents to:

90 DAYS REGISTRATION, ROOM 206

IMMIGRATION BUREAU, 507 SOI SUANPLU, SOUTH SATHORN RD.,

THUNGMAHAMEK SATHORN, BANGKOK

Note: Your mail should arrive at least 15 days before the due date of the notification.
