These Are the Following Documents When Applying For A Newborn American Passport
• Original copy of the Birth Certificate issued by the Civil Registry Office.
• Original coy of Citizenship by Descent Birth Certificate issued by the Department of Immigration and American Citizen for children born outside the US.
• Two 45mmx35mm (chin to crown measurement is between 32-36 mm with a light blue or white background) photos with the one photo issued by a guarantor. A guarantor is a person not related to the applicant but has known the latter for at least 1 year. He must possess an American passport of any occupation or if not a holder of such passport must possess a certain occupation.
• The parents’ original passport and/or IDs
• Completed American passport application form
• Payment of the necessary fees

You already know that a child born of an American national married to an alien mother is also considered an American national by descent under the laws of US. In a way, your child can acquire two nationalities –Thai by virtue of his or her Thai mother and American through his or her American father. This is one of the perks of interracial marriage.
Although the laws of the Thai Government do not recognize dual citizenship and considers your child as only a Thai national, the laws of US allow dual citizenship. Hence, American laws see your Thai child as an American citizen, too.
However, you still have to apply for your child’s American citizenship and obtain a Citizen by Descent Birth Certificate since your child was born outside of the US. Once granted American citizenship, you can now apply for your child’s American passport.
The greatest proof of his American citizenship is possession of an American passport. This American passport is especially important when you have to travel to or from US. You can use such passport when you leave or enter US so there will be less hassle in terms of preparing essential papers and documents for travel.

Getting an American passport is not really complicated with a fairly reasonable length of processing time. It usually takes an average of ten working days to process your application upon submission of the application form and the supporting documents and paying the filing fee.
Given that your child is an American citizen, you can easily apply for his or her passport. You must provide official English translations for documents which are not in the English language.
