Keeping Yourself In Shape Over 50 Is A Must
Are you over 50 and ready to find love again?
Are you coming out of a bad marriage, or other long-term relationship where you just weren’t compatible?
Are you looking to attract a woman who is sexy, and interesting, but worried that you might not meet her standard?
Well, if people in Hollywood can do it than so can you. Losing weight and getting in shape is possible after 50. The most important ingredients you can bring to the table in this process are knowledge and will power. Without educating yourself about weight and weight loss, you won’t have the tools you need to slim down. And without the will power to implement the knowledge you have gained, you’ll of course never see results.
There are a lot of crazy diets out there, not to mention supplements, protein shakes, pills and vitamins. Some of these work better than others, and some of them flat out don’t work at all. In this article I am going to focus on the only basic, sure-proven way to slim down, that healthy men over 50 use that successfully keeps them fit and trim to last in the bedroom.
1. Know your calories. The first time my husband started counting calories, he was shocked to discover that he was eating up to three times as much calories as was listed in the serving size of his favorite meals – from snacks to portions at the dinner table. That’s because the FDA makes serving sizes appropriate to a certain measurement regardless of what people tend to actually eat. Take a coke, for example. In Thailand, coke is served in a small glass bottle that represents one serving size. But in America, just a visit to your local 7-11 will give you a coke bigger than your face! It can be up to ten times the serving size which means up to ten times as much sugar and calories.
A calorie is the amount of energy it takes to heat up one mL of water one degree Celsius. We use calories to measure how much energy our food stores. For example, something that is small in size might have a lot more calories than something large. Take a candy bar and a sweet potato. A whole candy bar is about 550 calories. But a whole sweet potato, which is about four times bigger than a candy bar, might be no more than 20 calories or so. This is because of the density of the foods and how much energy it stores. Generally, more processed foods cooked in lots of oils and fats will have a higher amount of calories.
Now that you’re an expert, go online and get your BMI, or body mass index. This will tell you how many calories a day you can consume to maintain your weight. Subtract 500 from that number, and that should be your target calories every day to start to slim down. You can eat as much or whatever you want, as long as you stay beneath that number. Be aware that if you only eat sugary foods, the energy won’t last long and you’ll feel hungry and cranky and be more likely to break your limit.
2. Move! When I visited the States for the first time, one of the first things I noticed was how technology is making it pretty much pointless for anyone to move at all. You sleep in a bed, where you don’t move. You sit down to breakfast at a table, where you don’t move or stretch. From there you step into a car, where you sit, and go to work, where you sit, and go to lunch, where you sit, and then back home, where you sit and watch television or use the computer, until you are tired, and then go to bed, where you lie down. The reason why Americans are obese has a lot to do with not moving!
The best and fastest way to lose weight is to get to the gym. You want to go five times a week, switching off weight lifting and cardiovascular exercise. For quicker results, you can go twice a day, doing weight lifting in the morning and running later on in the afternoon. There’s usually lots of other classes available as well, if you find working out on your own boring.
So that’s it! Three months and you will see a difference, the trick is to keep up and not give up. Eat less and exercise more. There’s no better way!
But if you do find that magic pill, make sure and tell me about it!
